Social Justice and Outreach Ministry

"Christian revelation…promotes deeper understanding of the laws of social living. The Church receives from the Gospel the full revelation of the truth about man. When she fulfills her mission of proclaiming the Gospel, she bears witness to man, in the name of Christ, to his dignity and his vocation to the communion of persons. She teaches him the demands of justice and peace in conformity with divine wisdom" (Catechism of the Catholic Church, 2419).

The Lord Jesus teaches us, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it, You shall love your neighbor as yourself" (Matthew 22:37-40).

Mission Statement:   The Social Justice and Outreach Committee (SJOC) seeks to develop a Parish inspired to understand and act on Catholic Social Justice teaching.

Please share with us as we seek to give of ourselves, our time, and our possessions to those in need as faithful disciples of Jesus Christ. For information about the SJOC and its activities contact Bob Fennell from St. Andrew, Bob and Pat Ely from St. Francis, Lorraine Kroetch from St. Paul or Sister Joan.

We encourage each parishioner to meditate and act on our Lord’s call to serve the needy and the vulnerable.
