The sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist celebrate our membership in the Catholic Church. Through the
Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (R.C.I.A.) process, those who wish to become Catholic and those who are baptized and now wish to be in full communion with the Church participate in a preparation process that is intertwined with the life of the parish.

Those who have celebrated First Eucharist and wish to be confirmed are invited to participate in a Confirmation Preparation process:
Preparation for Confirmation should aim at leading the Christian toward a more intimate union with Christ and a more lively familiarity with the Holy Spirit, his actions, his gifts, and his biddings, in order to be more capable of assuming the apostolic responsibilities of Christian life. To this end catechesis for Confirmation should strive to awaken a sense of belonging to the Church of Jesus Christ, the universal Church as well as the parish community. The latter bears special responsibility for the preparation of confirmands.

At St. Andrew's, Confirmation preparation for college students is a part of Campus Ministry. Therefore, in order to prepare for Confirmation, one is invited to participate in the parish in such a way that all six aspects of Campus Ministry (described on the Campus Ministry home page) are experienced.
In addition to participation in Campus Ministry, one is also invited to prepare for the sacrament by participating (with a sponsor) in 5 liturgical rites and 5 evenings of reflection. The purpose of these rites is to bring to ritual the experiences that have been a part of one's faith journey, and therefore make the reality of what one is experiencing in the present moment more immediate for the whole parish community. The evenings of reflection help the participants grasp the meaning of the ritual more deeply and prepare them to celebrate the rituals more intentionally.
