Mystatgogia Retreat & Follow-Up
The term “Mystagogia” is an old, old, old term that the Church uses to describe the period of time directly after one has been fully initiated into the Catholic Church. For our purpose, we can think of Mystagogia as the 5 – 10 years after one has been confirmed. It is a time when these fully initiated members of the Church are expected to continue maturing in their faith by embracing their Catholic religious tradition. This retreat has been designed for our student parishioners to do just this.
The process begins with the formation of a team of undergrads who meet once a week in preparation for the retreat weekend and follow-up. Team leaders prepare witness talks based on the four pillars of the catechism and lead discussion that encourages questions.
The retreat begins on a Friday evening and ends on a Sunday afternoon. It takes place in a lakefront home with all the amenities of a vacation home.
After the retreat takes place, all the participants are invited to reunite every Sunday afternoon after the 12:30 Mass at the Catholic Student Center for faith sharing in the format of breaking open the Word.
