The Fall Retreat and follow-up experience is coordinated and implemented on the grounds of St. Andrew’s. The process involves empowering a team of students and other adults from the community to fac
ilitate the process through weekly leadership development meetings, candidate registration, parishioner participation, overnight retreat experience, and weekly follow-up gatherings.
The goal of the Fall Retreat is to help Catholic students (especially freshmen) get to know each other and to become comfortable and familiar with the parish. The philosophy is that through sharing our story with one another, the stranger in each other disappears, allowing the presence of Jesus the Risen Lord to be recognized in our midst.
The retreat is held in every building on St. Andrew property. Parishioners volunteer to cook and serve the meals and provide their homes in the evening for sleep accomodation (we call these host homes).
The follow-up experience allows all who participated in the retreat to reunite every Sunday after the 12:30 Mass to share faith with one another through breaking open the Word.
