As baptized Christians and as Catholics, we believe that our membership in the Body of Christ is defined by how we treat each other. “Amen, I say to you, whatever you did for one of these least brothers & sisters of mine, you did for me.” (Matthew 25:40)
On-going justice & service opportunities are provided for all our parishioners with sign-ups available in the vestibule of the Church each Sunday.
Examples:
· Habitat for Humanity: Each Fall during Clemson University’s Homecoming, Habitat for Humanity builds a house on Bowman Field. We volunteer with the building, the guarding and the ongoing installation of the house throughout the Fall and Spring.
· Southernside Community Center in Greenville: Once per month, we team up with other faith communities in Clemson in making bagged lunches, toiletry bags and collecting clothes that we then deliver to the homeless and hungry in Greenville. Usually, we prepare everything on the first Friday of the month and deliver it the next day. We also collect canned food from local neighborhoods to donate as well as write letters to our government representatives encouraging them to suport legislation that helps alleviate hunger and poverty.
· Operation Hope: Each Spring, we help the Knights of Columbus hand out tootsie rolls and collect donations for the mentally challenged children of our area.
· Crop Walk: Each year, we join in the Clemson Community Care sponsored “Crop Walk for Hunger.” Through donations, we raise money for the center and for national and world hunger relief services.
· Birthright: We are supporters of Birthright of Clemson in their effort to reach out to women who are distressed over unplanned pregnancies. “We love them both,” is there motto. From fundraising to publicity, Birthright always needs volunteers.
· Neighbor to Neighbor: Throughout the year, we organize groups who go to elderly and/or disabled parishioners' homes to help with lawn care, minor home repair, etc. It's all part of being a good neighbor.
Heritage Healthcare Nursing Home: On the second Saturday of each month, we go to the nursing home to lead fun activities and visit the bedridden. It's not for everyone, but those who are not intimidated always are able to give and receive a lot of joy.
