For those who are drawn to the Catholic faith, our community has an ongoing "initiation" ministry. Beginning with the "Inquiry" phase, one can find answers to initial questions, then continue with the "Catechumenate" or Period of Instruction.
Weekly instruction sessions are held on Wednesdays, 7:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m., in Brimley Hall at St. Andrew's. Including an overview of basic Catholic teaching, these sessions are presented by the pastoral staff and a team of parishioners. (Open to all parishioners).
During Advent and Lent, participants experience the Scripture study and prayerfulness of Small Christian Communities.
Two weeks before Easter, catechumens (those preparing for baptism) and candidates (those already baptized Christians), along with their sponsors, go on an overnight retreat together to prepare for the Triduum and Easter.
The Rites of Initiation are celebrated at the Easter Vigil. Catechumens are baptized and already baptized Christians are received into the full communion of the Catholic Church during a very prayerful and festive celebration.
The period from Easter to Pentecost is the Period of Mystagogy, a time to unpack and discover the mysteries of the Easter sacraments just celebrated.
